2016 Summer Reading-
We know that summer is a good thing. We know that reading is a good thing. The task now is to combine both of these good things so that our students’ minds are not idle for three months. Reading is the basis for learning and keeping the mind active. We encourage parents to aim for a sensible and realistic combination of reading and summer fun in June and July. Please note that required books will have class related assignments when students return to school in the fall.
The list below includes books from our curriculum; there are many more from which to select. We do not want children to read books that are coming up in their future grade level literature curriculum. Much of the pleasure of reading books as a class comes from the element of anticipation and surprise in a story they do not already know.
